Bergamot essential oil is cold-pressed from the fresh peel of Citrus bergamia Risso & Poiteau, a small citrus tree cultivated almost exclusively in a narrow coastal strip of the province of Reggio Calabria in southern Italy, where the unique microclimate and soil composition produce the finest bergamot fruit in the world. Our bergamot oil is sourced from both Italy (the gold standard for perfumery) and China (Sichuan province, a growing production region offering competitive pricing). The oil is composed predominantly of limonene (25–55%), linalyl acetate (15–40%), and linalool (10–20%), with the crucial trace components bergapten, bergamottin, and other furocoumarins (0.2–0.5%) that are responsible for its phototoxicity. We offer both cold-pressed bergamot oil (standard, phototoxic) and bergamot FCF (furocoumarin-free, obtained by fractional distillation of cold-pressed oil or direct steam distillation of the peel) for applications where phototoxicity is a concern.

The key ingredient in the traditional eau de cologne (together with lemon, neroli, lavender, and rosemary) — a formula that has remained essentially unchanged since its creation by Giovanni Maria Farina in 1709. Bergamot provides the fresh, green, slightly floral citrus top note that defines the cologne genre. It is used in approximately 50% of all fine fragrances, both men's and women's, and is particularly essential in citrus, aromatic, fougère, and chypre compositions.
The distinctive flavoring in Earl Grey tea. Also used in confectionery, baked goods, gelato/ice cream, and beverages for its unique citrus character that differs markedly from lemon or orange. The flavor profile is more complex and sophisticated than simple citrus, with green, floral, and slightly peppery-spicy notes. Only the FCF (furocoumarin-free) grade is permitted for flavor use in some jurisdictions.
Celebrated for its mood-elevating and anxiety-reducing properties. Bergamot is one of the most studied essential oils for psychological effects; clinical research has demonstrated its ability to reduce cortisol levels, lower blood pressure, and improve mood in controlled settings. Diffused in waiting rooms, offices, and healthcare environments for its universally appealing and emotionally uplifting character. NOTE: Cold-pressed bergamot should not be applied to skin that will be exposed to UV light within 12–24 hours. For massage and topical use, FCF grade is strongly recommended.

Custom packaging and private labeling available upon request.
Store in tightly sealed, full containers in a cool (<20°C), dark environment. Shelf life: 1–2 years. The ester and monoterpene profile of bergamot makes it more stable than pure-hydrocarbon citrus oils, but oxidation should be monitored. Nitrogen-blanketed headspace is recommended for bulk storage.
Under recommended storage conditions — tightly sealed in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight — Bergamot Oil remains stable for 2 to 3 years. Monitor for any changes in aroma, color, or viscosity before use in production batches.
Bergamot Oil is cold pressing from the fruit peel of a plant in the Rutaceae family. This method preserves the full spectrum of volatile aromatic compounds and bioactive constituents that define the oil''s therapeutic and sensory profile.
Every shipment includes a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the batch-specific chemical profile (GC/MS or GC-FID), physical parameters (specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation), and organoleptic assessment. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS) is also provided. Additional documentation — including GC/MS chromatograms, pesticide residue analysis, heavy metal testing, and allergen statements — is available upon request.
Standard MOQ is 1 kg for most essential oils, with bulk pricing available at 5 kg, 25 kg, and 180 kg drum quantities. Contact our sales team for current pricing and availability for your required volume.
