Cajeput Oil

Cajeput (White Tea Tree)

Antiseptic, analgesic, respiratory relief, anti-inflammatory, insect repellent

Product Description

Cajeput oil (pronounced 'caj-u-put') is steam-distilled from the fresh leaves and twigs of Melaleuca cajuputi, a medium-sized tree in the Myrtaceae family closely related to tea tree, niaouli, and eucalyptus. Native to Southeast Asia and northern Australia, cajeput has been used for centuries in traditional Malay, Indonesian, and Vietnamese medicine as a remedy for respiratory ailments, muscle pain, and skin infections. Our cajeput oil is produced from trees cultivated in Guangxi Province, where the subtropical climate produces an oil with an optimal 1,8-cineole to alpha-terpineol ratio. The oil has a fresh, penetrating, camphoraceous-eucalyptus aroma with a slightly sweeter, more fruity undertone than eucalyptus oil, making it versatile for pharmaceutical, aromatherapy, and personal care applications.
