Vetiver
Purifies skin, astringent, anti-itch, antibacterial
Vetiver oil is steam-distilled from the washed, dried, and comminuted roots of Chrysopogon zizanioides (formerly Vetiveria zizanioides), a densely tufted perennial grass native to India but now cultivated throughout the tropics, including Haiti (the world's largest producer), Indonesia (Java), Réunion Island ("Bourbon" vetiver), and China. The oil is characterized by its extraordinarily complex chemical profile, dominated by sesquiterpene alcohols (notably khusimol, β-vetivone, α-vetivone, and isovalencenol) that give vetiver its characteristic deep, smoky-earthy, slightly sweet aroma and unparalleled fixative properties. Vetiver oil is one of perfume''s most important base notes, providing depth, tenacity, and a natural, woody-earthy character that anchors and completes fragrance compositions. Our vetiver is sourced from both China and India, offering price and aromatic profile options.

One of the most important natural fixatives and base notes in perfumery. Vetiver is an essential component of countless men's fragrances (particularly woody, aromatic, and fougère types) and provides the earthy sophistication in unisex and feminine oriental and chypre compositions. Its extraordinary tenacity — vetiver's scent can persist for weeks on a scent strip — makes it indispensable for providing substance and duration to volatile top and middle notes. Haitian vetiver offers a cleaner, more floral-earthy character; Javanese vetiver is richer, smokier, and more tenacious; Indian (Ruh Khus) vetiver from North India has a uniquely sweet, rosy-woody character prized in traditional attar perfumery.
The quintessential grounding, centering essential oil. Vetiver's profound earthy aroma is psychologically associated with stability, connection to the earth, and emotional anchoring. Used in aromatherapy for stress, anxiety, insomnia, and ADHD (attention deficit with hyperactivity). Its deeply relaxing, almost sedative effect makes it particularly valuable in bedtime blends and meditation practice. Combined with lavender, frankincense, and cedarwood in sleep and relaxation diffusion blends.
Used in formulations for oily and acne-prone skin due to its mild astringent and antimicrobial properties. Its cicatrisant (wound-healing) action supports its use in anti-aging formulations targeting mature, devitalized skin. The oil is also traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine for heat-related skin conditions and as a general tonic for skin health.
Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Geranium, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Neroli, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang — an irreplaceable fixative that anchors, exalts, and adds depth to virtually any blend

Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool environment. Shelf life: 6–10+ years. Vetiver oil is extraordinarily stable due to its high sesquiterpene content; it improves and mellows with long-term aging, like fine wine or aged patchouli. The viscosity increases markedly with age; warm gently before use. Vetiver is one of very few essential oils that actually benefits from extended, controlled storage.
Under recommended storage conditions — tightly sealed in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight — Vetiver Oil remains stable for 2 to 3 years. Monitor for any changes in aroma, color, or viscosity before use in production batches.
Vetiver Oil is steam distillation from the roots of a plant in the Poaceae family. This method preserves the full spectrum of volatile aromatic compounds and bioactive constituents that define the oil''s therapeutic and sensory profile.
Every shipment includes a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the batch-specific chemical profile (GC/MS or GC-FID), physical parameters (specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation), and organoleptic assessment. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS) is also provided. Additional documentation — including GC/MS chromatograms, pesticide residue analysis, heavy metal testing, and allergen statements — is available upon request.
