Coconut Oil

Coconut

Deeply moisturizing, antimicrobial (lauric acid), hair conditioning, soap making, massage base oil

Product Description

Coconut oil is extracted from the kernel (copra) of Cocos nucifera, the quintessential tropical palm tree that has been called the 'tree of life' across South and Southeast Asian cultures for millennia. Two principal forms are available: virgin coconut oil (VCO), obtained by cold-pressing fresh coconut kernel without chemical refining, retaining the characteristic coconut aroma and flavor; and RBD (Refined, Bleached, Deodorized) coconut oil, which is neutral in aroma and flavor with a higher smoke point. Coconut oil is unique among vegetable oils for its exceptionally high saturated fat content (>90%), dominated by medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) — particularly lauric acid — which give it remarkable stability, a solid consistency at room temperature (<24 deg C), and well-documented antimicrobial properties. Fresure supplies both virgin and RBD coconut oil grades in bulk quantities for cosmetics, personal care, soap making, and food applications.

Chemical Composition

Lauric acid (45-52%), myristic acid (16-21%), palmitic acid (7-10%), caprylic acid (5-10%), capric acid (4-8%), oleic acid (5-8%), linoleic acid (1-3%), vitamin E, phytosterols

Industry Applications

cosmetics

Cosmetics & Skincare

Versatile moisturizing ingredient for body butters, lip balms, solid lotion bars, and skin creams. The high lauric acid content provides natural antimicrobial protection. Virgin coconut oil is preferred for natural/organic skincare. Fractionated coconut oil (caprylic/capric triglyceride) is the liquid form widely used as a fast-absorbing carrier oil in premium formulations.

cosmetics

Hair Care

Traditional and modern hair conditioning treatment. Lauric acid has a high affinity for hair protein and penetrates the hair shaft effectively, reducing protein loss from both damaged and undamaged hair. Used in hot oil treatments, pre-wash masks, leave-in conditioners, and styling products. Particularly beneficial for curly, coarse, and dry hair types.

general

Soap & Candle Making

Fundamental soap-making oil providing hardness, cleansing properties, and abundant creamy lather. Coconut oil soap has excellent solubility even in cold or hard water. Typically comprises 15-30% of cold process soap formulations balanced with softer oils (olive, palm). Also used in natural candle making for its clean-burning properties.

flavor

Food & Beverage

Culinary oil for baking, sauteing, and traditional tropical cuisines. Virgin coconut oil is prized for imparting coconut flavor to dishes. The high saturated fat content provides excellent heat stability and long shelf life. Also used as a base for MCT oil supplements and in ketogenic diet formulations. Widely used in confectionery and baked goods for texture and mouthfeel.

Storage & Shelf Life

Coconut oil is exceptionally stable due to high saturated fat content. Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry place. Melting point is approximately 24-26 deg C; solidification and re-liquefaction do not affect quality. Shelf life: 2-3 years for virgin; 3-5 years for RBD. Resistant to rancidity under proper storage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the shelf life of

Under recommended storage conditions — tightly sealed in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight — Coconut Oil remains stable for 2 to 3 years. Monitor for any changes in aroma, color, or viscosity before use in production batches.

How is Coconut Oil extracted?

Coconut Oil is cold pressing / expeller pressing from the coconut kernel (copra) of a plant in the Arecaceae family. This method preserves the full spectrum of volatile aromatic compounds and bioactive constituents that define the oil''s therapeutic and sensory profile.

What documentation do you provide with bulk orders?

Every shipment includes a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the batch-specific chemical profile (GC/MS or GC-FID), physical parameters (specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation), and organoleptic assessment. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS) is also provided. Additional documentation — including GC/MS chromatograms, pesticide residue analysis, heavy metal testing, and allergen statements — is available upon request.

What are the minimum order quantities (MOQ)?

Standard MOQ is 1 kg for most carrier oils, with bulk pricing available at 5 kg, 25 kg, and 180 kg drum quantities. Contact our sales team for current pricing and availability for your required volume.

Do you offer samples for evaluation?
