Essential Oil

Sweet Orange Oil

Sweet Orange

Cold prevention, moisturizing

Product Description

Sweet orange oil is the highest-volume essential oil in global trade, with annual production exceeding 60,000 metric tons, primarily as a by-product of the juice industry. Cold-pressed from the fresh peel of Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck, our sweet orange oil is predominantly sourced from Brazil and the United States (Florida), with Italian (Sicilian) blood orange (C. sinensis var. sanguinea) available for premium applications. The oil is overwhelmingly composed of d-limonene (>93%), which determines its solvent power, fragrance character, and industrial utility. We supply standard sweet orange oil, 5-fold and 10-fold concentrated oils (vacuum-distilled to remove limonene and concentrate the aldehydes and esters responsible for the juicy orange character), and folded oils for high-impact flavor applications. Sweet orange oil is non-phototoxic, unlike most other expressed citrus oils, making it universally safe for skincare applications.

Industry Applications

flavor

Flavor Industry

The single most important flavor raw material by volume. Used in virtually every category: carbonated soft drinks, fruit juices, confectionery, baked goods, ice cream, alcoholic beverages, and pharmaceutical flavor masking. Folded (concentrated) oils provide higher flavor impact at lower dosage rates. Natural decanal, octanal, and sinensal fractions are valued for their juicy, aldehydic top notes.

cosmetics

Fragrance & Home Care

A dominant ingredient in functional fragrance formulations—particularly laundry detergents, fabric softeners, all-purpose cleaners, and air care products. The universal association of orange with freshness, cleanliness, and positivity drives its use across price points from mass-market to prestige home fragrance.

aromatherapy

Aromatherapy & Wellness

Cheerful, uplifting, and calming—orange oil is one of the most popular oils for diffusion in homes, offices, and healthcare settings. Safe for use with children and the elderly. Combined with cinnamon and clove for seasonal 'holiday spice' diffuser blends that create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

industrial

Industrial Solvents

d-Limonene distilled from sweet orange oil is the world's most important bio-based industrial solvent, used extensively in parts washing, paint stripping, graffiti removal, adhesive removal, and oil field applications. Unlike petroleum-derived solvents, d-limonene is readily biodegradable, has a favorable toxicological profile, and offers pleasant working conditions for industrial users.

What documentation do you provide with bulk orders?

Every shipment includes a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing the batch-specific chemical profile (GC/MS or GC-FID), physical parameters (specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation), and organoleptic assessment. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS) is also provided. Additional documentation — including GC/MS chromatograms, pesticide residue analysis, heavy metal testing, and allergen statements — is available upon request.

What are the minimum order quantities (MOQ)?

Standard MOQ is 1 kg for most essential oils, with bulk pricing available at 5 kg, 25 kg, and 180 kg drum quantities. Contact our sales team for current pricing and availability for your required volume.
